Welcome back to another awesome year at Happy Kids. Classes are starting up again this week, and I know the kids are happy to be back with their friends again. My name is Mr. Brunken, the Grade 6 teacher, and I am really looking forward to getting your child to ASLA Graduation this year. I know this will be one of their most memorable years yet at Happy Kids.

I want to remind parents to pay special attention to the material sent home this week. While I post almost everything for class right here on the website, some things do not get cross-posted. Feel free to make a request if you want something posted here.

This week, students will be becoming familiar with my class routines and activities, the school rules and core values, and getting to know me and their fellow classmates. Independent reading is very important this year to maintain and progress in English. Therefore, I will be having students set a reading goal for home to meet every week. This will be their their Weekly Independent Reading assignment. They must complete a WIRSF  (PDF) each week to show they completed their reading. Please help by allowing your child to read 15-30 min a day this year. The results will amaze you.

I look forward t your support this year. If you have any questions, please contact me.
