Extension Project: Books We Love!

Post date: Mar 27, 2016 2:54:50 PM

These next few weeks, Grade 2 is working on project called Books We Love. This project is a culmination of a lot of learning the kids have done this year. In groups, students select a book that they as a group love from four different genres (narrative nonfiction, realistic fiction, fantasy, and folktale). We have been studying these genres all year, now students will need to take what they know and write their own definition of the genre, a summary of the book they chose, a persuasive paper about why they love the book, and illustrate a scene with a caption they loved from the book. A condensed version of all of this will be put on a display board.

That isn't all though, the culmination for this project will be their presentation. On April 8 at the ASLA Student Expo, each group will present their books and hard work to parents of the ASLA Program. The kids are working hard this week and next to get ready. See the student handout below for more information about this project.
