The Masque of the Red Death

"The Masque of the Red Death" by Edgar Allan Poe is our next reading selection. This is my favorite Poe short story. It is written as an allegory, but can be read like a fantasy story or even realistic fiction if you like. As the name implies, it is dark. It is about death. It is also about life. Sound strange? Read it for yourself.
"The Masque of the Red Death" is the reading assignment for next week's class (November 14). It is a short, but challenging read, so read through it slowly and carefully and multiple times if you need to. I would like you all to come to class after reading it with some questions or comments about the story. We will reread the story in class, so don't worry if you are confused after reading it. You can find the PDF file for the story embedded below to download and read.
