Your reading homework for this week is to read Edgar Allan Poe's short story "Hop Frog". With a theme similar to those we have read recently, this story tells the tale of a dwarf who serves as the court jester for a wicked king. The king and his councilors often abuse Hop Frog, but when they start abusing his girlfriend Tripetta (also a dwarf), Hop Frog gets revenge. Don't worry, I haven't spoiled it. The intrigue is in how he gets his revenge.
As you read, look for similarities and differences between "Hop Frog", "The Masque of the Red Death", and "The Tell-Tale Heart". Look closely, there are quite a few.
