After learning about organisms, we are now moving into different types of organisms. First we will focus on animals. this month will be all about animals. We are learning about how all organsims are made of cells and the parts of those cells and what animals need. I will be using some learning games in the classroom which can be found here. I also showed a wonderful episode of Bill Nye the Science Guy about cells. Feel free to rewatch it below. you can also find our reading for this week.
After spending the first week of class reviewing what science is and the scientific method, we will begin our first unit of life science. During this week we will start looking what livings are, what they need, how they are defined, and what makes them different from nonliving things. We will do some fun work this week. Our most important activity will be building a model of an animal cell. Students will learn some basic parts of cell, their fiunction, and then build a model depicting these parts of the cell. Below you can find the core reading material for this week. Please feel free to review it with your child at home.
